Recently, Tripura High Court issued a recruitment notification Dated: August 8 2024 for the recruitment of fourteen vacancies in Judicial Service Grade III.

Surprisingly, the syllabus omitted the new three criminal procedure codes like Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Indian Evidence act in the written test syllabus for merit selection which has created controversy.

According to the recruitment exam notification, the examination will be conducted on the old IPC, CrPC and Indian Evidence Act, other than the English and others law subjects and general knowledge etc. It is not known whether the omission was deliberate or was done by mistake.

Notably, from 1st July 2024, IPC, CrPC and Indian Evidence Act were replaced by Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bhartiya Sakhshya Adhiniyam.

In this peculiar situation, the question arises how can the recruitment test of Judicial Service Grade III be conducted according to the old law syllabus, this question has been raised by aspirants lawyers and law students who will be sitting for the exam.
